He also thanked local law enforcement who helped with traffic as the school year began at the new site. Strategic Planning in the district is beginning in the district as the board and leadership look at different options and determine the next steps.
District leadership will be meeting with city administrators and local law enforcement to plan ahead to what January will look like with safety and security as well as the traffic patterns into the new facility. Students will have to turn right out of the school instead of making a left turn in order to safely exit the facility.
September is also school board appreciation and he expressed gratitude to the members of the board.
Principal Reports
Principal Thompson shared that the year has been off to a great start and that the Elementary staff is feeling a huge sense of pride in the new building. Staff and students are getting settled into the new building and students are really enjoying the new playground and looking forward to the basketball court outside. Students enjoy being able to go to the pods or the cafeteria in the mornings.
The back to school meet and greet conferences went well and the team had to pivot a few times with moving into the new building, but the team came together and the year began with a lot of excitement. New staff are getting settled into the district and there is a lot of excitement about being a part of the next chapter of GFW Public Schools.
