rooted in community

In February 2026, the GFW School Board officially approved the new GFW strategic plan — a plan that truly reflects the identity of GFW Public Schools and what it stands for as a school community. This new plan will take effect on July 1, 2026, as the current plan comes to a close.

What makes this plan so meaningful is the voices behind it. Nearly 900 individuals contributed to shaping this vision — students in grades 1-12, staff members, parents, and community members all participated. This level of engagement speaks volumes about the pride and commitment that define the GFW community.

At the heart of the plan is our powerful new tagline: “Rooted in Community. Rising Together.”

GFW is deeply rooted in relationships, traditions, and shared values that help guide how the school district supports students every day.

“Throughout the planning process, we heard from our community about the strength of partnerships between staff members, connections with our students, collaboration with our parents, and support from and for our community,” said Superintendent Allen Berg. “This plan embraces the values and commitment we shared towards continuous improvement for our district!”

During a staff workshop day, it became clear just how deeply rooted we are in relationships, traditions, and shared values that guide the district’s work to support students every day. Throughout this process, we heard from our colleagues about the strength of partnerships with one another, our students, our parents, and our community. This plan embodies the values and commitment we shared towards continuous improvement for our district.
