A big thank you to Sleepy Eye Medical Center for visiting with our K–2 students to share the importance of bike safety and proper helmet use. Their demonstration helped our youngest learners understand how to stay safe while having fun outdoors—and they even got to see and touch a fake brain!
We’re especially grateful that each of our 1st grade students received a brand-new bike helmet to take home—what a meaningful way to support safe summer adventures!
Thank you for investing in our students’ safety and well-being!

Bright Beginnings is an innovative school-year-long program for all 3-year-old children, including those with special needs. The Bright Beginning classes meet three half-days per week. This class focuses on providing children with a day to explore and learn to work with other children.
Check out some of the ways that students use play-based learning to gain confidence, get used to following a schedule, and of course have some fun!
We loved getting to meet our future Firebirds at Kindergarten Kick Off! There are great things going on at GFW Public Schools, so if you know someone looking for an incredible place to start their child's love of learning, have them reach out. Learn more about enrolling at the link:

Ms. Fernandez and her class are always looking for ways to show Firebird PRIDE at school. Here's what she had to say:
"The PRIDE Board is a way our classroom recognizes students for showing PRIDE at school. When we see someone who demonstrates something like helping a classmate, showing kindness, staying focused, trying their best on a challenging task, using respectful language, or including others, they add their own name to the board. We frequently talk about what it means to show Firebird PRIDE as a class so it stays meaningful and connected to our expectations. As the board fills up, we work toward a class reward that we’ve voted on together, which helps build motivation and a strong sense of community."
The class recently celebrated with some delicious treats and root beer floats!

Beginning at 6:30 p.m., you’ll have a chance to learn more about our kindergarten program and meet our kindergarten teachers.
Did you know that kindergarteners at GFW have a chance to be dual language learners? Our Dual Language Immersion program includes half the day taught in English and half the day taught in Spanish. This program is great for both English and Spanish speakers and is the only program of this kind in our area.
We can’t wait to meet the future class of 2039!

We want to give a slightly delayed shout out to the Gibbon Fire Department for hosing off the playground equipment recently to clean up some mess from wind and weather. Thank you for your help!
