Firebird Families, don't miss the upcoming Athletic/Activity Registration Meetings! Meetings will take place on July 27 and August 3 and you will only need to attend one, so save the dates and make a plan!

These will take place from 6-7 p.m. in the GFW auditorium/theater at the new facility. You'll be able to learn the new BOUND scheduling and registration system and gain a better understanding of how activities operate at GFW.

Our Firebird athletes will also be participating in a Media Day Photo Shoot on these days from 4:30-5:45 or 7-8 p.m. to get photos taken in uniform along with their teammates.

Football season is right around the corner! Be sure to sign your son up for GFW Youth Football programs. Our Flag Football Program takes place on Saturday mornings and Tackle Football has Thursday night games in Hutchinson. See sign up forms for more information. Registration is due August 1st.

Calling all budding scientists! Community Education's LIttle Scientist Class is coming up on Monday, July 15 from 10-11:30 a.m. in the GFW PreK-12 Building - Commons Area.

Students 5 years and older will be participating in several hands-on experiments using household items to create a volcano and more! Come join in the fun and excitement of science! Be sure to dress for a mess.

Science classes at GFW are full of hands-on learning, problem solving, and teamwork. Also, sometimes robots!

Join us on Thursday, June 25 for a day trip to see Nobody’s Perfect at the Minneapolis Scottish Rite Temple!

A buffet lunch will include sliced smoked turkey with gravy, sliced country ham with bourbon sauce, roasted red baby potatoes with rosemary garlic, Tuscan vegetable medley, raspberry vinaigrette salad with blueberries, strawberries and mandarin oranges, homemade dinner rolls with butter, assorted dessert bars, coffee, tea and water.

Are you looking for an active summer camp for your children? Check out the Summer Gymnastics Camps for boys and girls ages 5 and up!

Gymnastics camp will take place July 14-16 from 1-4 p.m. at GFW Elementary School in Gibbon. Gymnasts will learn some fun routines to show parents, friends and family on the last day. All spectators should arrive at 3:30 p.m. on the last day of camp!

We are excited to announce the GFW Track and Field athletes who are headed to STATE! Please join us in celebrating Annie Wersal (Discus) and Silvana Ruiz (800m).

There will be a send off at the GFW School in Gibbon Thursday June 4 at 12:15 p.m. The local fire department will be escorting the track fleet out of Gibbon at 12:15 and be in Winthrop at 12:30 p.m. where the Winthrop ambulance and fire department will then escort them through Winthrop on Highway 19.

Please come out and show your support for these athletes! We would love to see everyone at the high school and lined up along Highway 19 in Winthrop. Signs are highly encouraged!

LEGO lovers, this one is for you! Our Lego Robotics Clubs for elementary and middle school students start up on Monday, June 8 in the old GFW Elementary School Room 220.

Grades K-4 can register for the Lego Robotics Elementary Club that meets every other Monday from 3:30-4:30 p.m. (Registration fee is $10 for the entire summer.)

Grades 4-8 can register for the Lego Robotics Middle School Club that meets every other Monday from 6-7:30 p.m. (Registration fee is $20 for the entire summer.)
