
GFW NHS students worked at the Sibley County Seniors Expo today serving lunch to seniors. The county organizes presentations of interest and entertainment for senior citizens in the county and students helped serve lunch and clean up afterwards. Way to serve the community!

We’re headed to the Ives Auditorium in Bloomington where we’ll begin with an included lunch of creamy chicken breast with roasted red potatoes, glazed carrots, coleslaw, dinner rolls, assorted desserts, coffee or hot tea. (Special dietary meals available by request ahead of time.) Then we’ll head to the theater for Perfect Wedding: A Riotous Comedy and Touching Love Story About The Big Day That Goes Hilariously Wrong! A groom wakes up on the morning of his wedding day with a hangover and a strange woman in his bed. Mix in the bride, her mother, the best man, and a maid that knows too much, and you have a recipe for disaster. Wedding bells or running for the hills? Their big day will be far from a piece of cake!
Bus will pick up in Fairfax at the old Middle School at 8:30 a.m., in Gibbon on the west side of the building at 8:45 a.m. and in Winthrop at the MS/HS bus loop at 9 a.m. Bus will return to Winthrop at approximately 5 p.m., Gibbon at 5:15 p.m. and Fairfax at 5:30 p.m.

A popular ECFE tradition returns on May 2! Come and enjoy time at Carlson’s Llovable Llamas with us! We will get a tour of the farm, we will play in the pen with the baby llamas, trail walk with your own llama and brush and help feed the llamas. What a fun day!

It's almost time to take the ACT! The test will be held on Tuesday, April 22 at GFW from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. Students were sent a link to sign-up but if they need it again, they can email Mr. Werner, Ms. Chandler, or Mr. Wasmund. Students need to sign up for the test by Monday, April 14.

GFW Juniors and Seniors and their prom dates can attend the After Prom Party on Saturday, April 26 with food, games, and entertainment! All GFW Juniors and Seniors can attend the party even if they don't attend the dance or grand march.


Looking for a new activity for your 4th-6th grade students? Check out Golf Lessons from Community Education taking place on four dates:
Wednesday, April 30 and Monday, May 5, 12 and 19 - 5 - 6 p.m.

Come learn chipping, putting, driving and golf etiquette with Ryan Jacobson (GFW High School Golf Coach) and members of the GFW High School Golf Team.
If you don’t have a set of golf clubs - no problem! When registering, let us know if your golfer needs left or right handed clubs.

Preschool registration for 2025-26 will take place tomorrow (Thursday, April 3) from 4-6:30 p.m. at GFW Elementary School in the ECFE Center. If you have a 3-5 year old child, we have the programming to help prepare your child for a positive Kindergarten experience and a brand new school coming soon!

Full-time positions are available beginning in August. Tutors receive a paycheck every two weeks plus up to an additional $5,100 for college tuition or loans. Tutors 55+ may gift the education award to their child, grandchild, stepchild or foster child.

We will cover appropriate games and activities, telephone common sense, basic first aid, good decision making skills and much more. Participants must be 10 years old by the start of class. Children will receive printed materials, several items to add to their babysitter kits and a certificate upon class completion. Please bring a doll and snack to class.

How can GFW teachers use AI to improve their teaching? AI tools help teachers to develop lessons based on individual student needs, generate lesson plans and learning activities, and to encourage debate and discussion in the classroom.


Families of GFW Seniors, join the MN Office of Higher Education virtually on Tuesday, April 22 from 7-8 p.m. to learn more about how to best prepare your child for their next educational journey. This session will cover some of the key conversations to have with your child before they start college. From understanding finances, to navigating a college campus, to making sure your child knows how to do their laundry, we will help you feel prepared to send your child to college!
